Google Ads for electricians, without the wasted clicks
Ads are the third door: they send whoever is searching this minute, at a price per click, and stop the day you stop paying. Run tightly, for the right searches, in the right postcodes, they are the fastest way to a ringing phone. Run the way Google's own setup wizard suggests, they burn money on “electrician jobs” and “electrician salary”.

When ads make sense
Urgent searches, and the months before SEO pays
- Emergency and same-day searches. “Emergency electrician”, “no power in house”, “electrician near me now”. The person is not reading guides; they are calling the first number that looks real.
- High-value planned jobs where the competition is thin. EV charger installation in an area where nobody else is advertising it is often cheap per lead.
- The first months of an SEO campaign. Ads fill the gap while the profile, pages and reviews build, then get scaled back as the organic enquiries arrive.
- Testing a new area or service before you commit to building pages for it.
How we run them
Search only, exact areas, every call tracked
- Search campaigns only at first. No display banners, no “smart” campaigns that spend your budget on YouTube.
- Postcode-level targeting around where the van actually goes, with the radius reviewed against the calls that came in.
- A negative keyword list built on day one from the searches electricians waste money on: jobs, courses, salaries, apprenticeships, DIY.
- Call tracking and form tracking, so every pound is tied to a call or an enquiry, not a click.
- Landing pages that match the search. An EV charger ad lands on the EV charger page, not the homepage.
- Ad spend on your card, in your own account, which you own. We manage; we never hold the money.
Ads and SEO together
The sequence we recommend
Ads and SEO share the same landing pages, the same tracking and the same profile. Run in the right order, each makes the other cheaper: SEO pages raise the quality score of the ads that land on them, and ad data shows which searches are worth building pages for.
01
Fix first
Profile, site speed, the pages the ads will land on. Ads sent to a broken site are money set on fire.
02
Ads for the urgent, SEO for the planned
Search ads on the emergency and same-day terms; the monthly SEO work on the rewires, consumer units and chargers.
03
Scale back as organic grows
As the map pack and the pages start sending enquiries, the ad budget moves to the searches SEO cannot reach, or comes down.
Management is quoted alongside the SEO tiers; ad spend is paid to Google directly and is always yours.
Questions electricians ask us
How much should an electrician spend on Google Ads?
Enough to get meaningful data, which in most UK towns means a few hundred pounds a month of ad spend paid to Google directly, on top of the management fee. Below that the campaign never learns. We set the budget with you from the searches in your area, not from a template.
Should I do Google Ads or SEO first?
If the website is decent and you need work now, ads produce calls in days. If the profile and site are broken, ads send people to something that will not convert, so we fix those first. Most electricians who can afford both run ads for the urgent searches and build SEO for the planned jobs.
What is the management fee?
It is quoted with your SEO tier, because the two share the landing pages and the tracking. Ad spend goes to Google on your own card; we never mark it up or hold it.
Do you run Local Services Ads?
Where Google offers them for electricians in your area, yes. They sit above everything else, charge per lead rather than per click, and need your Part P scheme and insurance verified. We handle the set-up and the disputes on junk leads.
Can I see what the clicks cost?
Every month, down to the search term. You see the searches, the clicks, the calls, and what each call cost. If a term is wasting money, it goes on the negative list that week.
